Can SculpSure be used to treat gynecomastia?

Recent gynecomastia due to illness. Hormone levels are now normal. Can SculpSure be used to treat gynecomastia?

SculpSure is not a treatment for gynecomastia.  Gynecomastia most often has a fibroglandular component of breast tissue. This is not treatable by SculpSure.  Even if there were only fatty gynecomastia, I would not treat over the nipple areola.

Sculpsure is good for stubborn areas of fat, but lacks body shaping and contouring. For gynecomastia, a combination of VASER HI DEF with ThermiRF and fat transfer to the muscles of the chest give much better improvement. SculpSure is not effective in treating gynecomastia. This condition is best treated surgically so that the glandular tissue can be removed along with the fat.

SculpSure can have a role in treating gynecomastia.SculpSure can destroy fat that is enlarging the male breast.Glandular tissue will remain, but the improvement may be enough.In surgery, liposuction is usually used as an adjunct and SculpSure can help with the fatty component. Best wishes, Dr. Denkler

This is a yes and no answer.  SculpSure uses a laser to destroy FAT cells and is FDA indicated for the abdomen and flanks only.  True gynecomastia consists of breast tissue and fat cells.  SculpSure can be used "off label" for men's chest/breast but will only eliminate the fat cells.  So, if your gynecomastia is 100% breast tissue, then you will not see any results.  However, if your gynecomastia is 50% breast tissue and 50% fat cells, then you will see a result.  I myself have had this performed on my chest/breasts and was very pleased with the results!Good Luck!

Sculpsure can decrease some of the fat, which plays a role in having fully breasts than a man wants. however, if someone is very self conscious about their breast size, I feel only a surgical excision, done in the OR, can give an aggressive treatment. so it depends on your expectations, whether Sculpsure can be helpful. if you will be content with a more subtle change and you are also willing to have mor than 2 sessions, Sculpsure may be a good option for you.david berman md
