I am thinking about starting 0.25mg minoxidil with Spironolactone. Would it be okay to use 100-200mg Spironolactone and 0.25 minoxidil to treat my FPHL? I am also planning on adding in PRP after a few months. Do you think this is an effective way to maintain the hair I have? Topical rogaine was very irritating to my scalp therefore I would like to use low dose minoxidil instead.
Answer: Oral minoxidil and spironolactone Be sure to see a dermatologist. It is a reasonable plan but personally I would advise you start lower on spironolactone in case it makes you dizzy with the minoxidil. You can increase if things feel okay after 1-2 months. I would also not add PRP in a few months because you will have absolutely no clue as to what is helping and what is not. Give it a good solid 8-10 months before even thinking about PRP. Start minoxidil and spironolactone... increase slowly... figure out if it’s working and go from there. See a physician to guide you.

Answer: PRP as adjunctive management Yes, this sounds sensible, but you do need to see an expert regarding this. Minoxidil is an excellent idea, and spironolactone is my favoured anti- androgens, at 100- 200 mg you must NOT self medicate, this tablet can increase your potassium levels, so you must have regular blood tests. Remember, PRP is not a one off treatment, repeated sessions must be conducted. All the best, Dr Davin S. Lim. Brisbane. Australia.
