Is this normal after a peel? (photo)

I had a chemical peel done for pigmentation for the first time two days ago. My face is extremely swollen and red... I was told it should start peeling by now but it hasn't. Is this normal?

Thank you for your question and the photo.Yes this is a normal appearance for a chemical peel at this stage. Although many people start to peel after two days some people take a little longer depending on the depth, strength and type of peel. Follow all the instructions given to you by your practitioner. The peel is a wounding process and the reaction will vary. Expect a week or one of healing with gentle after care .Typically a gentle cleanser followed by an emollient. Bromelain orally is a good way to decrease swelling and decrease inflammation after a peel or any cosmetic procedure.
