Can the liquid Botox accidentally spilled on the face cause damage to the skin? How do I treat the red skin blotches ?

During Botox injections the dr released some Botox from the needle, unaware his finger was releases the liquid. The liquid ran down onto my cheek area and I had to tell him before he himself noticed. The doctor was training. He gave me a tissue to wipe it. It has been red ever since and it has now been a year The area is dry, rough and blotchy and it has not gone away. It is very noticeable I have been putting zinc cream on it but has not made a difference.

It is not possible that the Botox spill caused your skin irritation as its not absorbed by the skin.   Best to arrange a consultation with your GP or dermatologist for an assessment and appropriate treatment.

Botox dripping onto your skin should not have any consequences.  A more experienced doctor would be more careful, since the drug is so expensive that he/she would not want to waste one drop !  If you are having redness you should show it to your dermatologist for evaluation and treatment.

Botox is almost all saline and will have no effect on the skin. the redness may be due to the zinc so stop that

Thank you for your question. It is very unlikely that topical exposure to reconstituted Botox on the face will result in the red blotches that you are describing.
To formally assess for any topical irritations, it is best that you either consult your regular GP or get a referral to an Allergist for a skin patch test.
In the meantime, oral anti-histamines such as Telfast 180mg daily may help but this does not substitute the need for follow up review with your GP.
I recommend that you consult with an experienced and highly trained practitioner to ensure your safety and for optimal result to be achieved.
