m24 years old, 157 cm and 45kg with an A cup size. I have a significant gap between my tuberous shaped breasts my chest is so bony that my sternum sticks out. The rest of my body has a normal amount of fat. Multiple people have commented on how disproportionate they look in comparison to the rest of my body. My surgeon said that he can’t bring my breasts closer together and I don’t have enough fat to graft my chest. I really want implants but I’m afraid that they won’t look good.
Answer: ide sternum/rib cage Hello, And thank you for the question. In patients who have wide sternum/rib cage, placing the implant under the muscle may not achieve full cleavage in the middle because the sternum/rib cage will limit how far towards the middle the surgeon can place the implant, since the muscle attaches to the sternum. Some patients may be a candidate for placing breast implants above the muscle which can overcome the bony chest wall deformity but implant edge may be more visible and palpable. I would seek an in-person evaluation by the Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon, in order to discuss your goals and concerns for the best cosmetic results. I hope this helps. Best regards, Dr. Karanetz Dr. Irena Karanetz Breast Fellowship-Trained Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Bony chest and a large gap Dear Imaginative554314, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking, it is possible to improve a wide gap between breasts during surgery. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Breasts Some women have breasts that sit widely apart. The bases of your breasts cannot be moved. However, lower profile implants that are wide can be used to help stretch out the pocket more medially as well as laterally.

Answer: Bony chest I encourage you to visit with a few board certified plastic surgeons near you to listen to varying opinions. The width between the breasts is determined by your anatomy and cannot be changed, but sometimes surgical techniques and implant selection can give the illusion they are a little closer. Tuberous breasts often need some type of lift procedure along with implants to improve shape.

Answer: Choosing the right size and profile breast implants for you. After I measure and discuss goals with my patients, we then look at pictures of women (my patients) with similar measurements with different size breast implants. They also get to see what they would look like when the breasts have fully dropped and fluffed and in clothes. You get to see actual results and the surgeon' s experience and not a virtual idea of what can be achieved. Women tell me that this process is very helpful in determining what is right for them. Answer: Mini lift Unfortunately, you have not provided photographs. However, it may be possible to use a mini lift. Using a circumareola incision, your breast tissue is reshaped, elevated higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. At the same time, fat transfers or small implants can be placed if additional volume is desired. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.
