How many grafts do I need? (Photo)

Thanks for the question. Based on your photos, the 4000-5000 grafts might be good option for you, but it would be wrong to say something for sure. You should see a board certified surgeon. You can then plan the process together and discuss the results. I wish you all the best. 

It depends on what you want and your expectations.  Hair transplant with short cut hairs will never look full.You need to be more clear on your goals and expectations.  Some may be very happy with 1000 grafts.  Some may be not happy with even 3000 grafts.

I would plan on a minimum of 4000 grafts to cover the vertex, midscalp, and frontal forelock. This could be done with FUE over a two consecutive day period. 

You will require around 4000-5000 grafts to cover the entire area. It can be given by a combination of Strip + FUE or FUE from scalp and body or by two sittings of FUE six months apart. It will all depend on your donor area . It will be better if you can send the pics of the donor area ( scalp, beard and chest ) for better evaluation ....

A single photo from the top view gives and idea of what you approximately need. It is around 6000 grafts and plus.On the other hand for a precise evaluation it is better to share a photo of the donor site.(back of the scalp) Two and maybe three consequent hair surgery might be needed of course if the donor site is enough.

You have a Class 6 or Class 7 balding pattern. That means that you will need between 4000-7000 grafts for complete coverage. That number can be reduced if you have a good quality hair (medium weight or coarser, good character and high density). From your picture, you look like a grade six on the Norwood scale of hair loss.  To give a better estimate, it is best that you post a picture from the back of your head to evaluate the donor area.  However, if your donor is dense enough, you may have enough donor hair available  for two sessions 3000 grafts each.  The first session, we would concentrate mostly in the front and rebuild your hairline, temples, mid scalp and may have a bit for the crown.  This will frame your face from the front and result in a nice natural look.
