I suffered from undiagnosed Cushing's syndrome for 8 yrs til tumor was discovered & removed 4/2012. I am recovered and off replacement steroids for 1 year, and have lost almost all of the weight gained (60 lbs.) and I am now 5'5, 125 lbs., which is within about 5 lbs. of my pre-Cushing's weight. Do I stand a chance getting insurance to cover corrective plastic surgery? 3 in off waist and 3 cup sizes? I have a flabby tummy roll (3 in. "muffin top"). I was a 34 full C/small D, now I am a 34DDD/F.

Answer: Contouring after weight loss Congratulations on your weight loss! If you've reached your goal weight (you are no longer losing weight), you may be a great candidate for a breast reduction and tummy tuck/lipo. Unfortunately, it is very unlikely private insurance will cover these procedures despite your history. Insurance companies deem tummy tucks and/or liposuction as not medically necessary (cosmetic). There is a possibility that your breast reduction could be covered by your insurance however. Please visit with a board certified plastic surgeon to learn more about your options. Best wishes,Dr. BasuHouston, TX
