I'm 19, can I get silicone implants with my parents permission?

I want breast implants but I'm only 19. I want silicone because I want to look/ feel natural. I know you have to be 22. If I get my mom to sign or approve can I het silicone?

The FDA has approved silicone gel implants for patients 22 years and older. You can still get gel implants at age 19, but they will be considered off-label. This means that the warranty of the implants will be void if you are not 22 years or older. You will have to find a surgeon that feels that the gel implants are appropriate for you and is willing to deal with the potential legal implications of using an off-label product.

HI,While there is no good reason for the FDA to state that women under the age of 22 should not get silicone implants, it is still the rule. Thank you for your question. As previously stated the FDA does not approve the use of silicone gel implants in anyone under the age of 22. For this reason, I would suggest either waiting until then or using a saline breast implant as an alternative. I would strongly encourage you to follow all rules and regulation with regards to the implants because as previously stated any misuse could automatically rescind any warranty that the devices would carry. Should you run into any form of complication or rupture down the road, you will therefore be responsible for the entire cost of the procedure and receive no financial assistance from the implant company. Thank you for your question.  The FDA approved silicone implants for patients who are 22 years old and over.  However, some surgeons will use silicone implants under 22 years of age and the patient/parents must sign an off label consent.  As another physician pointed out, off label use of silicone implants may void the warranty.  Since you are over the age of 18, you would sign the necessary consents. and no longer need your parent's permission.  We have all discovered that you can choose to have things once properly informed and are allowed to have gel implants if used 'off label'.  Your doctor should help you with this but for some bizarre reason, the government mandated the age restriction on these devices that have proven to be safe through the history of time.

In my opinion, there is no good reason why there is an FDA  mandated age of 22 for patients to receive silicone breast implants. There are many patients under the age of 22 who would ( based on their body type and the advantages of silicone breast implants) benefit from the use of silicone gel breast implants. I therefore use silicone gel breast implants for patients under the age of 22 frequently.  Parenteral  consent is not necessary for any patient above the age of 18. Unfortunately, the use of these implants for these younger patients will negate the breast implant manufacturer warranty.I hope this, and the attached link, helps.

Per FDA guidelines, silicone implants are limited to women who are 22 years of age.  Parental permission is not relevant for a woman of 19 anyway.Seek plastic surgery consultation to review your options. All the best.
