In general, the more the breast is lifted, the greater is the amount of scarring. As a donut or Benelli does not have a lot of visible scarring, it also does not provide a great deal of lift. Your photos suggest you do not have a lot of sagging so you may be happy with the outcome. If you have doubts, discuss this further with your surgeon as he or she can communicate or demonstrate the amount of lift you can reasonably achieve.

Based on the photos, I would not suggest a lift. The Benelli procedure can make the areolas smaller and slightly elevate the nipple. The trade off is a scar around the areola. If you don't want that, the augmentation alone will slightly elevate the nipple as well. Good luck!

I personally use a Benelli lift infrequently because I believe most patients either fall into the camp of needing a full lift or no lift with their augmentation. For the small number of patients that really skirt the line of needing a lift it is a good option.
A few criteria I use when considering the Benelli lift is when the nipple only needs to be lifted less than 1.5cm and the nipple to inframammary fold distance is less than 11 cm. Implant selection is also an important consideration because if your goal is to be on the smaller size then the Benelli may not be able to reduce the skin envelope sufficiently.
Every procedure has its tradeoffs but based on your photos it looks like you are probably a good candidate for the Benelli and it is a reasonable thing to offer to avoid the scars of a full lift. Best of luck with your surgery!

Hi,After reviewing your photos I can tell that you have good breast footprint, and you will have good result with breast augmentation with implants in terms of breast volume increase. In my opinion the BEST result will be achieved with a breast augmentation with implants and a small periareolar lift, so that way you can elevate minimally the nipple position (so they will be symmetrical in position) and reduce the size of the areola.Hope this will be helpful.Dr. Enrique Quiros Lim

I highly recommend against any type of procedure that creates an isolated scar around the areola with the goal of reducing the size of the areola and/or lifting the breast. Usually all this does is create a widened peri-areolar scar that is quite noticeable. I would highly recommend placing an appropriate size implant and performing an anchor-type lift pattern. If you Google "Benneli lift scar", you will see some examples of the areolar widening / scar that can occur. I recommend finding a plastic surgeon with at least 6 years of integrated plastic surgery training followed by an accredited aesthetic surgery fellowship (by the Aesthetic Society).

determining whether you need simply a breast augmentation versus a breast lift can be somewhat complicated. It depends on a number of factors including skin laxity and current nipple position. Generally speaking, if the nipples are lower than the inframammary line the patient will most likely need a breast lift. If the nipples are at or above the inframammary line we can generally get by with just a breast augmentation depending on the size of the implant the patient wants. I often still using implant when I perform a breast lift because it provides more upper breast fullness after the lift. To be sure a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon will help determine what the patient actually needs.

The question of whether or not a lift is needed at the time of augmentation depends on several factors including how big of an implant you are planning to put in and its dimensions, your skin quality, amount of breast tissue and how much of it is sagging. Although it is unclear without an in person evaluation, based on the photos you may be a good candidate for a peri-areolar or Bnelli lift. Sometimes a circum-vertical or lollipop incision is needed to make the best possible breast shape. Often times, this decision is made in the operating room.
