Can breast augmentation make you look curvier or pudgier?

I'm 5'2 and 125 lbs My body grows out wider so I look a bit rectangle just wanted to know your thoughts if a breast augumentation will help or could make me look heavier?

Hi, thank you for sharing your question. Proper selection of implants will determine whether you look proportional or possibly even heavier. It’s hard to tell without photos or an exam but try multiple sizes with your plastic surgeon to help with your decision.

I recommend an in person consultation with a plastic surgeon to discuss your goals and be measured. After I measure and discuss goals with my patients, we then look at pictures of women (my patients) with similar measurements with different size and style breast implants, if interested, and they choose what looks right for them. They also get to see what they would look like when the breasts have fully dropped and fluffed and in clothes. You get to see actual results and the surgeon's experience and not a virtual idea of what can be achieved. It would be easier to answer with photos but yes and yes. It depends on body types, but usually shorter patients with a square body type need to be careful with implants size. Going too big can mega them look pudgier.

Your concern is why it is important to have your surgery performed by an experienced board certified plastic surgeon.  During a consultation your surgeon will discuss your desired look and help you select implants to help you achieve this.  She/He will also take into consideration if the implant will be harmonious with your frame.  Those for example who are short waisted or those with a more square body may look overpowered by large implants.  I've included a video I hope you find helpful.

A well done breast augmentation should add enhancing curves to the breasts and add to the opportunity to balance or highlight your overall curves.  They do not need to be a distraction and should not make you look heavier. The best way for you to tell is to try on implant sizers, which will help you determine how you will look after an augmentation. Just make an appointment for a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area. Many offices have sizers for patients to try on.
