Breast augmentation and thrombophilia - how fast can I resume it after?

Question

I am a 30 years old woman who wants to have a breat augmentation surgery. However, due to FVL homozygous, I'm on prophylactic treatment for life with Eliquis. I never had a blood clot, neither my parents. I am aware that I have to interrupt the treatment 10 before surgery, but how fast can I resume it after? Thank you in advance

every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

Safety is always the number one priority during surgery.  You will first need to meet with your hematologist to discuss your interest in breast augmentation.  If given clearance you can meet with a board certified plastic surgeon.  Be sure to discuss your history.  If the surgeon feels you are an acceptable candidate there likely will be extra precautions put in place for the procedure.  You will be given instructions on when you can resume your medications.

Given that you have a mutation in FVL, you have a higher likelihood of developing clots. We would work with a hematologist to determine the best way to prevent a clot while also making sure that your results are not impacted. Contact a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to discuss the most effective manner in which to conduct your surgery safely.

Plastic Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, and Hematologist, once the patient is evaluated clinically (and with specific blood studies), the specialists can determine what is best for the patient, including preoperative preparation, trans-operative monitoring, and also, post-op immediate and long term medications (including dosage and treatment duration).
