I'm planning to get a tummy tuck by the end of the year and I was wondering if you doctors can give me some tips to avoid hair loss after this kind of surgery.

Thank you for your question.  Normally during a tummy tuck the only hair that may be compromised is that in and around the incision made on the lower abdomen.  As far as the stress of the surgery, some patients see a temporary loss of hair from the top of their head, but this normally resolves in time.  Be sure to maintain a healthy diet, and get plenty of rest, and you should do well

If you have experienced this type of hairloss before, then i advise you to start Rogaine 2% from 2 months before and the first 4 months after to avoid hairloss as much as possible. Also add biotin vitamins supplements before and try to maintain a healthy diet.Best of luck

It is not unusual to note some air loss after any type of stress, including a surgical procedure.  Dr Castillo has given you good recommendations regarding diet and rest.  Along with this be certain to keep your work and social schedule light around the time of your procedure.
