Bra Size After Breast Reduction?

EAch cup size tends to run 150-200cc. Therefore if you are reducing your breasts by 500 gms this would range from 2.5 - 3.3 cup sizes on average which would leave you with a 38B-C. Thi si only an estimate.

Every doctor has different post op instructions so you should ask your surgeon what would work for you. The dressings vary from patient to patient. Some patients may be placed in a sports bra; others will wear a stabilizing elastic support strap. Your doctor will decide after surgery and in subsequent weeks, which dressing will suit your needs and how long you would need to wear them.

Hello! Thank you for your question. In general, implant size does not
correlate with bra cup size. The cup size itself will vary from
manufacturer to manufacturer as well as who is doing the actual
measurements. Thus, cup size is never a reliable indicator for your
breast size. I typically encourage my patients not to communicate her
desires in cup size but more on the actual look and appearance. Good

communication between you and your surgeon of your expectations is
warranted - choosing your surgeon wisely is the first step. Discussion
of your wishes and having an honest and open dialog of your procedure is
mandatory (e.g, implant, incision, placement, lift, etc). I have
found that photographs brought by the patient is helpful to get a
visualization of the appearance you wish for in terms of size, shape,
fullness, etc.  In addition, your surgeon's pre and postoperative
photographs should demonstrate a realistic goal for you. Once this has
been accomplished, allow your surgeon to utilize his/her best medical
judgment during the procedure to finesse the best possible result for

Unfortunately, there is no direct correlation between the amount of tissue removed and the ultimate cup size that a patient will wear after breast reduction surgery.

Before undergoing the breast reduction procedure it is very important to communicate your size goals with your surgeon.  Most patients, like you, wish to achieve a enough of a reduction to help with their symptoms while remaining proportionate with the remainder of their torso. 

With the goal of improving communication with my patients I find the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small)  very helpful. I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or “C cup” or "fake looking" means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful.
Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup  size may also be inaccurate.

There are many excellent options and techniques for breast reduction. In our practice, we work closely with patients to understand what their symptoms are, determine approximately how much tissue will need to be removed to help their symptoms and achieve their personal aesthetic goals. We let our patients know that we will remove enough tissue so that they will obtain a balanced look and we will do our best to reach their target cup size. However, patients should keep in mind that there is no uniformity among bra makers with cup sizes. As every woman knows, a woman's bra drawer has bras of multiple different sizes depending on the maker, the style, and the appearance she would like to achieve.
 

38 DD bra size can look a bit different for patients of different builds. Removing at least 500 gms from each breast would probably put you in a large to mid size "C" cup.

We cannot promise or guarantee a breast size as a result of an augmentation, lift or reduction. If 500 grams is removed from one woman's breast, her final size will be different from another having had the same volume removed. It is sad how many women ask this question.  But according to one formula, a breast reduction of only 345 grams would leave you with a B cup.

No one can accurately predict your post-op cup size with an exam.  Bear in mind that a 38B is the same cup size as a 36C and also that cup sizes vary among manufacturers.  Having said that, my prediction is that you would be a C-cup following a 500 gram reduction.
