Can I wear sunglasses the day after getting radiess under the eyes?

It is perfectly safe to wear sunglasses post under eye filler. However, using Radiesse as under-eye filler is highly not recommended. The skin around the eyes is incredibly thin and fragile and the size of the needle required to insert the material can create substantial trauma and bruising the area below the eye. Moreover, Radiesse can have potential negative side effects in the long run when injected under the eyes.

The concern with moving or displacing fillers after they are injected mainly applies to situations where the filler can be aggressively moved through repeated motions, such as a facial massage. Wearing sunglasses the day after getting Radiesse® should not affect your results, and in fact is excellent sun protection practice.

It should be fine to wear sunglasses the day after a treatment with Radiesse under the eyes.  This should not have an impact on your treatment.

Thank you for your question.  Yes, you should wear sunglasses after filler under your eyes.  Radiesse is an unusual choice for filler under the eyes, typical choices include Restylane, Restylane Silk, Belotero Balance, or Juvederm Volbella and these also would be great to wear sunglasses afterwards.  Regards, Dr. Matt Elias

 Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures using dermal fillers, facial implants (cheek, chin), liposuction and/or facelifts for over 30 years.  Yes, it's fine to wear sunglasses after your filler treatment.  However, no to using Radiesse in the thin lower eyelid skin.  Dermal filler won't migrate or move after it's injected even under sunglasses.  The shaping fillers are meant to be placed within the fatty layers of the face which tapers before the thin lower eyelid skin (has no fat layer).  Placing shaping fillers in this region can lead to noticeable lumps and bumps and Radiesse unlike HA fillers can't be dissolved.

It is excellent practice to wear sunglasses and utilize sunscreen as well after the procedure, not only to camouflage the possible post-treatment bruising but also to protect against excessive sun exposure which may cause pigmentary changes in the skin.
