I had a sudden thought that i will bring up next week when talking to my surgeon... With my TT w/ drains I get a binder. So is there any garments needed for the hips while wearing the binder? What happens if nothing is worn on the hips until after the drains are removed? Maybe biker shorts?
Answer: Compression garments Thanks for your garment. Yes, there garments you can wear which compression your abdomen, allow for a drain and also do not put pressure on the newly transferred fit. We use Marena garments at my practice. We recommend compression garments for at least 6 weeks post op. We do not recommend biker shorts or compression on newly transferred fat. Good luck!

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear daflygirl, I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery. Answer: Hip fat grafting Wearing compression garments have never been proven to offer any benefit or have any impact on final results after either Liposuction or fat transfer. Usually surgeons take care of compression garments if needed so if your surgeon thought you needed them he or she should’ve mentioned it during the consultation. Small areas of fat grafting may not need compression garment at all and there’s no strong evidence compression garments are needed in the first place. Do use of compression garments it’s a bit of “everybody uses them because everybody else uses them”. From what you described I don’t think you need any extra compression if you can talk to your provider. It will not have an impact on your final outcome. I would like to mention that delivering consistent quality liposuction and fat transfer results is a bit more difficult than most people believe and not all plastic surgeons despite being board-certified, having a good reputation and years of experience unnecessarily doing the procedure. this is true for both Liposuction and fat transfer. If it’s a limited procedure and you are content with your surgeon in regards to doing the tummy tuck and you’re probably fine. For anybody considering major liposuction and fat transfer work I recommend patient be very selective and always have multiple in person consultations before choosing a provider. When choosing providers and while vetting plastic surgeons ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection a before and after pictures for the procedure you are interested in. Ask to be shown only pictures of patients who have similar body characteristics to your own to get a good understanding of what your results will most likely look like.Being shown a handful of preselected images most likely representing the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like in the hands of each provider. For this reason patient should request seeing as many before and after pictures at the provider is willing to show you asking specifically to see results of previous patients with similar body characteristics to your own. You should also ask to see examples of excellent outcomes, average outcomes and outcomes that did not turn out as well as they had hoped for. ask them what the relation rate and revision policy is. For reference and experience surgeon should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 set a before and after pictures of commonly performed procedures which include tummy tuck, Liposuction and fat transfer. Hopefully you’ve done sufficient research and vented plastic surgeons including confirmation to have a good understanding of what average results look like or at least results of previous patients who have similar body characteristics to your own.
