I was wondering if you get lipo on this area what type of garment would you use to compress this area? I haven't seen anything specifically for this area. Are the garment companies behind the times or ? Also, one plastic surgeon said that area will need to be cut out, but I will not be able to lift my arm all the way up losing the length I lift my arm. another surgeon said I can have lipo, but it's not guaranteed. Help! Thanks!

The compression garments are manifold, but the real issue will be whether to remove skin at the same time or just liposuction.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA

A compression garment with sleeves would compress the axilla or armpit. It's your surgeon's job to make sure you have the appropriate garment, not yours. Your surgeon will know what to order for you. In terms of surgical technique, the decision to cut out tissue or use liposuction depends on the type of tissue that's present, and whether there's excess skin to remove as well. Even if tissue is cut out and raising your arm is tight at first, the area should relax with time and allow you to raise your arm.
