Botox can be used off-label to inject underneath the nose and help lift the tip of a nose that has drooped because of the pull of the upper lip muscles. The length of the dorsum (straight part) of the nose won't change. Some people are bothered by the nasal tip being pulled down when they smile and speak and Botox injections can help this but it is temporary only providing about four months of improvement before it has to be reinjected.
This is an interesting question. There are multiple muscles around the nose that can affect the shape of the nose. You can improve the nasal drooping possibly turn up the tip slightly. This kind of use for Botox is very unusual and questionably effective. I use Botox frequently for wrinkles on the side of the nasal bridge.
BOTOX® works by temporarily relaxing muscles. Occasionally small muscles will pull the nasal tip downward when smiling and Botox may be considered as one possible treatment to diminish this. Botox or Dysport may possibly shorten your nose if injected into the depressor septi muscles (if your nose droops when you smile, then you have an active depressor septi muscle). The effects should last 3 months. This is an advanced technique and you should consult with an experienced injector. Ramtin Kassir, MD
