Raised facial mole removal by shaving or excision: which method is ideal to remove mole from above lip? (photos)

I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Moles can be removed with laser, radiowave or shave.  excision will have larger scar than shave, both can be lasered.  Pre treat with vivatia foam to prevent complications (see link). There is always a chance of scar but this can be reduced with good technique and the right treatment choice.  Best, Dr. Emer

Mole removal begins with a comprehensive examination and consultation to determine the likelihood of a mole being worrisome. Excisional and incisional biopsies are reserved for suspicious moles. Raised moles can be shaved off and this could be done with the mole you have on your upper lip.  Shaving a mole will normally remove it so that the skin is flat, but it is possible that there could still be some pigment remaining.  If there is some pigment remaining and this bothers you, then the area could be excised.
