Muscle pain vs. capsular contracture? Achy pain in right breast at 8 months post op, off and on, in one spot.

You may have strained a muscle or stretched some scar tissue.  If this doesn't resolve or only gets worse with time (e.g. over the next 2-4 weeks), then I would revisit with your plastic surgeon who may be able to determine if there is a developing capsular contracture or any other problem with the breast.

Thanks for your question. Capsular contracture is diagnosed by firmness and sometimes painful breasts. It could happen anytime after surgery. Please visit your plastic surgeon so he can evaluate if you have this condition. Another possibility is straining of the pectoralis muscle that can occur when engaging in strenuous activity. Hope this helps,Dr. JSB

likely that your pain is from a muscle as first symptoms of capsular formation
is normally increased firmness of the breast.

think it would be worthwhile beginning massage of the area and your plastic
surgeon will be able to advise you of the best way of doing this but
essentially this loosens the area slightly.



Capsular
formation normally first appears as firmness of the breast and in this case you
would notice that one breast would be slightly firmer than the other.I hope the pain settles with time. AR

In this case it´s better that you visit your plastic surgeon, he will explore you and let you know his diagnosis.

It is difficult to say without an exam in person. You should definitely see your surgeon to evaluate the issue properly.
