How long should numbness linger after PRP/ACell with numbing injections?

Question

I had PRP/ACell treatment about 48 hours ago, with numbing injections prior to the treatment around my scalp. Most of the numbness wore off within a couple of hours, as expected, but I still feel a small amount of numbness on most of my scalp. A few specific areas, to the touch, stimulate a numb, tingling sensation in the area, as well. Is this normal? The soreness is minor and expected, but I wasn't sure if lingering numbness is expected.

In  my opinion,   numbness lasting longer than 24 hours is not from the lidocaine. It is from pressure and possible inflammation of the hair follicle and surrounding area from the A cell. It should resolve within 3 to 14 days.

derek3763,Numbness after PRP treatment is temporary. It should resolve very soon, unless you are having some paresthesia related to the injection of the anesthetic. I would recommend to follow up with your physician.

The numbness you are experiencing after your procedure is not due to the lingering effects of the local anesthetic.  Most of the anesthetics that are used will only last several hours.  If you are still experiencing numbness after 48 hours you should contact your physician.  But I am confident any numbness you have will resolve shortly.

I suggest following up with your provider. After 24 hours the lidocaine should be fully worn off.  In our practice we do not use numbing as it can denature the proteins.  Best of luck.

The numbness from the lidocaine should only last 4-8 hours. You probably are having a reaction to the product itself which is related to the pressure; however I believe that is likely just transient. It'll get better and hair will start booming soon!
