How long after a BBL am I required to wear the belly board?

After a BBL procedure Patients use girdles for 6 weeks and start therapeutic lymphatic drainage and ultrasound massages in the liposuctioned areas, which continue daily for a total of 10 sessions.  Patients can return to light activities almost immediately after surgery, normal activities 2 weeks after surgery, and vigorous exercise 4 weeks after surgery.  We usually experience a slow steady improvement for 3 months or so after surgery.

Belly boards may be effective, but I do not use them for my patients.   My practice provides each BBL patient with a well fitting compression garment. A comfortable t-shirt or the like worn underneath the compression garment usually tends to help with irritation and comfort.  The most important aspects of compression wear are snug fit and compression of all liposuctioned areas.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
