Is this fold normal when I sit? Is there anything I can do about this? 10 weeks post Smart Lipo (photo)

Some skin folds, bulging from tummy are normal when sitting whether someone has had surgery or not.Also, 10 weeks is very early after Smart Lipo and the fold should flatten after several months.Close follow up with your plastic surgeon is recommended for instructions.

Thank you for your question. Some skin folding upon sitting is normal. The good news is that your skin will continue to tighten over time. Paying attention to your posture may also be helpful.

Hi there,At 10 weeks post surgery you skin is still contracting to the final end point.  Having said that, most people have skin folds when they sit down regardless if they have had surgery or not.  Close follow up with your surgeon is still recommended to follow your progress.

You're still going through the healing process and may have a bit a swelling but I would be more concerned by a fold if you were standing up. Generally most people have folds in the skin when the sit down or bend over so it's nothing I would be concerned about at this time. Good luck on your continued recovery and congratulations again!

It seems from your picture that there is still a significant amount of fat. Removing the fat more evenly and thoroughly should improve what concerns you. 

this is likely loose skin but it also appears that you needed more internal heating or fat removal. I suggest seeing a body contouring specilist , laser liposuction or smart lipo is considered not as advanced a technology as internal RF and/or vaser ultrasound with or without skin removal.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Liposuction can remove volume, but can’t offer skin removal tightening, like a full tummy tuck can.You have lax skin in a natural crease area. A abdomen board, firm foam, can help train the posture to be more straight when you sit.Best. Dr Brecht Seattle, Wa

Congratulations
on your recent procedure...The procedure of liposuction is an
"insult" to the soft tissues, resulting in swelling which will
initially totally obscure the operative result. 60-80%
of the swelling should subside within the first 6 weeks, with the remainder
slowly subsiding over 6-12 months.
As you are only 2 1/2 months post surgery, there is still moderate swelling which may be responsible for the skin fold.
If you measure the distance from the bottom of your rib cage to your pubis when standing and then when sitting, you will see a significant difference in length. The swollen tissue folds upon itself as it can no longer depend upon elasticity to shrink with body flexion. If you do not have excess skin, this should improve with more time.
Continue followup care with your plastic surgeon.

Remember that you will continue to improve for 6 months after Smartlipo which is one reason why it is such a great technique. However, i think everyone gets a fold in their abdomen when they sit down, unless they are very young, with very low body fat and fantastic skin tone. david berman md
