I don't know many ppl that have been getting fillers for 10-20+ yrs. My hair dresser swears the chronic filler ladies generally look horrible, & if not horrible, like something isn't right. She says they end up having to get more & more trying to counter problems, bc the tissue is stretched & gravity pulls the filler into the wrong places, also says the chronic inflammation ages you worse. Asking for opinions/observations of long term filler effects.

Answer: Long term effects of fillers In most people, filler gets slowly absorbed into the body and the injected areas start trending back to how they were before injections. A small percentage of people develop edema as the filler goes away. This problem is easily solved by using hyaluronidase to dissolve the old filler if this happens. I see patients all the time that I injected 10+ years ago and they are doing great.

Answer: Properly placed fillers should not have long-term negative effects on your appearance. Great question, thanks for asking. The key is to choose an experienced provider with an aesthetic eye and knowledge of the proper placement techniques in order to achieve smooth, natural-looking results. Improper filler placement can look very “done” and may cause unsightly lumps and bumps. Fillers gradually dissolve and are metabolized and eliminated by your body, so the product does not stay in place long-term. That said, fillers cannot stop the aging process altogether, nor can they make a 60-year-old look like they’re 20 again. Like all cosmetic treatments, fillers have their limitations. The bottom line is to work with a knowledgeable provider and understand when nonsurgical treatments may no longer be enough to get the results you’re looking for.
