When should I be changing this aquacel dressing? (Photo)

Question

I just want to know when you suggest removing gauze/hydrogel dressing? I was doing it everyday, but my husband thinks I should keep it a little longer & just add a dry gauze on top. He does know a bit about wound care, but I want other opinions. My doc says everyday day to every other day.

Thank you for your question, and because the nature of your wound is not readily apparent, best to follow the instructions of your surgeon.  Aquacel is normally applied directly to a wound and covered with a sterile/clean dressing with tape to maintain it in place.  The amount of exudate (drainage) of the wound determines the timing of change. More exudate typically requires changes daily or every other day.  Less drainage may require changing the dressing every few days to a week.  Maintain close follow up with your surgeon to ensure that your wound continues to heal appropriately.

I can't see the wound in the picture it is covered by a gauze. Best to follow closely with you surgeon and follow his wounds are advice.
