I would suggest having your surgeon pierce your belly button after he finishes the breast augmentation part of your procedure. You will be asleep and feel no pain. I do this all the time for patients who want piercings: tongue, belly button, nipple, etc. This is a very simple thing for a good surgeon.
Thank you for your question. All body piercings (ears, belly button, etc...) will need to be removed before your breast augmentation procedure, so I would advise you to wait until after surgery to have your belly button piercing done. As far as when it will be appropriate to have this piercing done, I would recommend waiting a minimum of 4 weeks but I would strongly urge you to discuss this with your operating surgeon. The concern with new piercings after surgery is the risk for infection. Please discuss your wish for a second belly button piercing with your operating surgeon in advance of your surgery as he/she is most qualified to provide you with the best recommendation. I wish you all the best on your upcoming surgery!
In our practice, I recommend people wait 3-4 weeks until I am sure that they are out of the woods; Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified.
The issue here is infection. Breast augmentation should not be undertaken if you have any infected area on your body. You can get your piercing anytime before your augmentation, although if it gets infected, you will have to put off your surgery. If you are going to do the piercing after surgery, think in terms of 3 to 6 weeks just in case an infection arises around the piercing.
It is best to wait to get the piercing until you are healed from your surgery. Any infection or open wound will likely delay your surgery. Also, you will need to remove the belly button ring for your surgery. Be sure to discuss this with your surgeon as well. Best of luck!
Thank for your question. Best to discuss with your surgeon. In the event of an infection from the piercing, it is very likely your surgery would be cancelled. Also, you will have to remove your piercing at surgery, not sure how that would affect a new piercing. Probably best to wait. Good luck.
Thanks for your question! It's best to wait until after your surgery but it wouldn't hurt to bring this up to your surgeon regarding their practice's surgical policies on piercings. Good luck!
Yes, I think you should wait a while. Probably minimum of 6 weeks. Always best to ask your surgeon first.
You should always have good communication with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon before any type of procedure is performed. With insertion of a foreign body, there is always a risk that an infection can develop, which in turn, could delay your surgery until that infection has cleared. It is always best to check with your operating physician to get advice on the time frame in which he or she recommends to move forward with a body modification.
You should discuss this with your surgeon. The fear is that the body piercing does not heal normally and there is infection. This may postpone your breast augmentation surgery.
Thank you for your question. It's best to bring this up with your surgeon upon arrival and they will need to make the determination. Good luck!
