Best bet is to make your surgeon aware of what you have discovered. They can examine you and discuss the options of going ahead with or postponing your surgery. While you have fungus under the nail, your finger does not appear red or inflamed such as would occur with an active infection.

Thank you for your question and photo.  Any nail fungus from acrylic nails can become an invasive infection. However, if there are no signs of infection, just colonization (only discoloration of the nail, no redness or pain in the skin) then this may not be an issue.  In my practice I would evaluate the area and if there are no signs or evidence of infection into the surrounding tissues then it would be safe to proceed.   Your surgeon will have the final say in this and one should definitely share this information before surgery.  Good luck.

Thank you for your question. I would recommend that you contact your plastic surgeon and alert them to your concerns. You may need to go to your PCP to be evaluated to determine what is going on with your fingernail. Best of luck.
