I had upper eyelid surgery 12 days ago. Very concerned about marked asymmetry. (photos)

I realize that it is fairly early in terms of recovery and that everyone heals differently, but in most of the pictures from other reviewers I've seen there is not such a large disparity as what I am seeing in myself. I am wondering if this asymmetry could simply be attributed to uneven swelling or if I am going to likely need a revision.

The postoperative swelling can make the incisions and the eyelids look asymmetric in the first 3 months after surgery.  Every passing week as the swelling goes down the asymmetry will reduce.RegardsDr. J

Swelling is normal for the first 4-6 weeks, and depending on the person, sometimes even for a little bit longer than that. It is hard to asses asymmetry until the 6 week mark.The first recovery milestone usually occurs at this 6 week mark, when the majority of the swelling subsides. During these 6 weeks, the eyes may continue to change and look different. 
If you are concerned and wish to have someone take a look, I would suggest seeing your surgeon or an oculoplastic surgeon, which is an ophthalmologist with a concentration in plastic surgery specifically around the eyelids.

Based on your photographs it appears you have asymmetry of the eyelids most likely due to asymmetry of the swelling of your eyelids after surgery.   Further, with swelling of the upper eyelids, eyelid positions may appear too low.  Given more time, these differences should equalize.Good luck with the rest of your recovery!
