I am trying to decide between fraxel or cutera limelight for browning, freckly skin. I have gone to two derms and one said IPL and one said Fraxel. See pictures attached. I live in S. Florida, so sun exposure might affect the advice given to me. Thank you for your help in this matter!
Answer: Fraxel Fraxel is a laser skin rejuvenation treatment that resurfaces your outer skin, erasing imperfections. It also encourages the production of collagen, a protein found in connective tissue. The result is clearly visible lines, folds and wrinkles. Fraxel laser skin rejuvenation is a non-invasive technique that affects only about 20 percent of the facial skin exposed to it. The most common side effects of Fraxel laser treatment are swelling and skin redness, which should subside within a couple of days. Other temporary side effects may include minor itching, dry skin, peeling or flaking, and a bronzed skin appearance. The risk of infection or scarring is very limited. You should stay out of the sun 2-4 weeks

Answer: Removing freckles with lasers, microneedling/prp, TCA peels, Cosmelan A combination approach will give the most improvement. I recommend lasers (IPL combined with Fraxel), microneedling/prp, Cosmelan and TCA peels gives great results. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Brown spots Thanks for posting... The Fraxel 1927 is a more in depth treatment when compared to IPL. The other option is a HALO laser by Sciton... Go see Dr. Jason Pozner (he's located in Boca) He's a friend of our practice in Maryland and has the latest lasers for your skin issues. Best of luck, Dr. M

Answer: Lasers and Skin Pigmentation Fraxel Dual 1927 is a great laser for pigmentation and one may require 2 -3 treatments 4 weeks apart. There is downtime associated with this, therefore another option would be PicoSure, which has almost no downtime and again, multiple treatments may be required. Both are excellent lasers to treat this however. Maintenance is very important with all these lasers however. There are many many lasers that treat this but I have no information about the Cutera you asked about. Finally, a good medically based skin care program is critical to help maintain results. Just like you brush your teeth daily, you MUST do daily skin care to keep up good results. Thank you!

Answer: Fraxel vs.Limelight Thank you for posting your question. While I think that both devices are effective for the kind of pigmentation that your pictures demonstrate, I think that the Fraxel 1927 wavelength laser would probably be both more effective and safer since you live in S. Florida. No matter which treatment you choose, you will need to be especially careful to avoid sun exposure during the recovery period, both to avoid the development of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation ( darkening of the skin in the treated areas) and to prevent re-development of the pigmentation that you are trying to get rid of.
