Is 20 years old too young for blepharoplasty? (photos)

Question

My eyelids are hooded, and not in the good way. The skin is thin and loose. It hangs over my mobile eyelid. I included photos (excuse the emojis.) I really enjoy doing makeup, but my eyelids are very frustrating. I would love to have more youthful voluminous eyelids, similar to Kendall Jenners. How could I achieve that? Thanks in advance.

A personal evaluation would be necessary to give you a specific treatment plan, but if you have excess skin in the upper lids, an upper lid blepharoplasty can definitely help. So can additional volume in the brow. This can be achieved with filler or fat.Andrew Campbell, M.D.

Rarely volume can be added to or reduced from the eyelids on young age. You seem to be a candidate for fat injection to your upper eyelids. You can consult a board certified plastic surgeon who does fat injection frequently.

You have a natural and youthful appearance and cosmetic surgery (upper eyelid blepharoplasty) is not needed at this time.  If you are interested in trying a non-invasive technique, then Botox may be a good choice. Botox can help the eyes appear more open and by doing so may reduce the amount of fullness you see in your upper eyelids

Thank you for your question.  Your pictures does demonstrate some hooding of the upper eyelids, which would be a genetic characteristic in your case.  Although a conservative blepharoplasty can be performed, it is still surgical and the average age of people who undergo the surgery are older than 20.  You might want to consider Botox treatment of the brow muscle to help raise the brow, which may temporarily change the position of the eyelid tissue and give you the look that you desire.  Make sure to discuss with a specialist and look at all options. Best wishes.

Lid hooding is uncommon for individuals in their 20s, and more often we see familial fat bulging in the lower lids. If hooding is an issue with eye makeup conservative reduction can make sense, but be certain your goals are clear.

Eyelid skin, laxity and hooding etc.. are often a feature where genetics play a role early on  and Blepharoplasty are often done on younger individuals same as Rhinoplasty for noses.

An Upper blepharoplasty procedure would get you the result you have described on your wish list.
