What's your opinion on the black scab on areola after surgery? (Photos)

Hi. Is it normal? I underwent a breast reduction with implants 25 days ago. I got this big black scabs in my left areola and I am extremely concerned about the healing and if I will need another kind of procedure to fix that. I am in contact with my surgeon, who sees me every week, but I think I could use a second opinion on that. I started using bacitracin ointment 4 days ago. Does it usually heal by itself? It doesn’t hurt, no sign of infection at all. I wonder why it happened.

Thanks for your inquiry, the most important thing is to be closely following with your surgeon.  Concerning signs include acute warmth and redness to the breast or purulent drainage should be reported to surgeon immediately, good luck.

Dear LiviaAlmeida1985,
this type of wound healing issue is not uncommon after breast lift. It is usually caused by poor blood flow. I would suggest you to consult your plastic surgeon, follow your surgeon's instructions and keep your wound clean and covered. It can take few weeks or months for wound to fully heal.
