Black dot along incision line, 4 months post op Breast Augmentation? (photo)

Question

I had my breast augmentation 4 months ago, and my surgeon recommended I start using mepiform silicone sheets for my incision site. I have been using it for almost 1 month now, usually just leaving it on at all times until I need to reapply. I took it off earlier to see a black dot, and I am now worried. Can you tell me if I should be concerned, and what I should do. I have used some peroxide on it. It doesn't seem to hurt nor is it oozing.

Thank you for the photos, although I cannot see much. If it a spitting stich, the surgeon will take it out, and it should be OK. If it a small area of separation, this too should heal well.  Please let your board certified plastic surgeon know of your concerns.  Different plastic surgeons have different treatment protocols. They will guide you though the process.

Thank you for your question. Without the benefit of an examination it is hard to say. It could be a suture that is working its way out. I would set up a consult with your surgeon and see what their thoughts are. Good luck.

Your photo and story suggest that a suture is trying to "spit" or erupt through the scar.  It is not rare for this to happen.  It can easily be taken care of in the office.  Best to give your doctor a call for follow up.
