Thank you for sharing your question. It is probably safest to wait 2 weeks before applying makeup directly to the incision site following blepharoplasty. Most makeups are acceptable. Make sure to apply sunblock as well. Good luck,
Dear jenni55Congratulations on your surgery! For my patients I advise the following:Do not apply any make up, cosmetics or creams to your eyes for at least 2 weeks after your procedure. Once 2 weeks have passed try to only apply mineral based products as this will allow your skin to breathe. If you have any concerns, do speak with your consultant. All the best
I suggest you wait 2-3 weeks before applying makeup along the upper lid . You want to avoid clogging the oil glands and increasing the risk of Milia. Also as you mentioned you dont want any dark makeup "tattooing" the incision line or suture marks good luck
Best to ask the plastic surgeon who performs your blepharoplasty. In general, you can resume cosmetic use with a week to 10 days. This gives time for incisions to heal, for sutures to have been removed if necessary, and for most of the initial swelling to subside. Recommend that you stick to water-based cosmetics initially. Do not use makeup on any open wounds.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
It is safe to wait for 2-3 weeks before putting any makeup over the incision as it may disrupt the healing process when the scar is still fresh.
