I have a lower lip protrusion. Any suggestions?

My lower lip is bulky and is hanging so much so that it reveals the whole lower teeth... When I strain my facial muscles a bit the lip is in place but not when relaxed... I am confused if it is a orthodontic problem or does it require cosmetic surgery..and I have a little raised upper incisor and an overbite but no severe jaw deformity or dental problems! Would be grateful for proper medical assessment of my situation !

Lower lip protrusion can be a normal finding or can be a condition which can be made more proportional with the rest of your face.  In an ideal face, the ratio of the upper to lower lip is 1/3 to 2/3.   A comprehensive examination by a qualified injector can help clarify the cause and treatment for your aesthetic issue.Protrusion of the lower lip often is represented in the lateral view, where the lower lip protrudes or projects our further than the upper lip.  Cause of lower lip protursion can involve:Dental issues including gum and teeth and orientation of biteUnderdevelopment of the upper lip and upper lip anatomy including bone and teethAbnormality in the skeletal and muscular structure of the lower lipExcessive soft tissue in the lower lip Treatment can involve a variety of solutions including adding filler to the upper lip or lip/mental sulcus to balance out the face as well as lip reduction in specific cases.

Thanks for your question and we really need to see photos to help you the most here.  My first recommendation is to consult with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to learn what the best treatment options, which may be one of the neurotoxins, like Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin, which, when injected by very skilled providers, might be able to be used to improve the concerns.  But a consultation is needed to determine it this will work.
