Answer: It is difficult at times It is difficult at times for patients when they do not see results. Sometimes this may mean that the drug is not working for you. It does not work on everybody. Taking a higher dose may not be the answer. In fact you may have side effects.

Answer: Hair growth with minoxidil Assuming you have androgenetic thinning, Minoxidil topically may grow hair but also may work by slowing down hair loss - either result is good as long as your expectations are in line. Though it is easy to tell if you are growing (or not) hair, it may be difficult to tell if the medicine is helping maintain your hair. For that reason, it is sometimes worth continuing on the medication if you are not having side effects.Other treatments like finasteride may be of benefit for you so I would advise you to consult in person with someone experienced in diagnosing and treating hair loss.

Answer: Options for male hair loss There are surgical and non surgical options for male hair loss. Minoxidil is one non surgical option. It does not help everyone but helps 30% of users. Other non surgical options include finasteride, low level laser and platelet rich plasma. Seek professional advice from a physician who can examine your hair. Some treatments might not "grow" more hair but they might help stop hair loss for a while. If a patient uses a treatment for 1-2 year and finds the hair density is not changing, it may indicate that the treatment is helping to stop hair loss. In other words, regrowth is not the only goal. Depending on your age, surgical options can also be considered. i generally do not advise surgery for the crown until age 35 or more.

Answer: Minoxidil Many times using Minoxidil just by itself doesn’t regrow much if any hair. Used with Finasteride your chances would increase a bit. Both are used primarily as defenses to help slow down the loss. Hair transplants are what actually make a noticeable difference that most patients are looking for.
