I am 22 years old and have been experiencing Hair loss since when I was 18 . I used Mintop (Minoxidil) for 3 years and then a combination of Amexidil (Minoxidil 5% + Aminexil1.5%) and Renocia lotion for a year .I think my hairfall stabilised and became gradual. Recently a new doctor prescribed me Bioexidil(Capixyl) and Finasteride(tablet) . I have been using this new combination for over a month . I am experiencing rapid hair loss , which I think is due to the new medicine. What should I do?

I generally suggest that for my patients that they stick to Minoxidil. Many companies offer combinations of drugs on the promise of better results, but the base medication that is well tested and works, is  Minoxidil 5%. Stick to the basics first, and if it doesn't work, then go ahead and experiment. In general we advise our patients to use minoxidil 5% twice a day, although the official recommended dose is 2%. We take the blood pressure of the patient prior to prescribing this medication. Although this medication can be purchased directly from any pharmacy or grocery store, there are side effects that you must read about prior to starting the medication especially when you go up to 5% dose.
