Is drainage necessary for a BBL?

Thank you for your question. The drainage is very important for the post op recovery, this will remove the fluids that your body retains after surgery. I would suggest to be treated by board certified plastic surgeon with experience in this procedure, to get the best desired results.

I do not use drains in the BBL. Usually after 2 days there is no drainage in most of my patients. Some plastic surgeons feel that the drains reduce the number of fluid collections; others feel that the drains are a nuisance to patients. Yet other doctors feel that the drains increase the rate of infections. I think there is probably truth in each of these, and there is probably not a right or wrong here.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. In most cases, drainage is not used after BBL surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

I have used and not used drainage systems in liposuction and lipo/BBL surgeries. I am now only using lower tummy 1 drain. But each surgeon or clinic has their own requirements. There are no standards. Understand a drain system costs $25-$35 extra....think about that!
