V-beam for indented scar?

Question

I'm going to have fractional laser for a slightly indented and textured scar but doctor also wanna do v beam laser because he can see some pinkness by his goggle. I know v beam is good for red and raised scar but im wondering if it's proper for a indented scar. Doctor thinks reduce some redness will give it overall better result combine with fractional laser but I'm worried v beam will make indented scar more indented. So is the risk overriding the benefits since my redness is not bad anyway?

I use a combination approach to patients with scars including Vbeam, Fraxel/Clear+Brilliant, and Microneedling with PRP.  Each scar should be treated independently and a formal in person consultation is needed.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Vbeam laser is the gold standard for deeply red or pinkish hyperemia on the skin from skin trauma or surgery. We use this laser quite often to improve redness in combination with Plato’s Scar Serum twice daily. Options for red scars include scar modulation, intralesional injections to reduce inflammation, vbeam laser, and IPL treatment. Many sessions are required which is why you should schedule with a trained clinician familiar with scar treatment and Vbeam pulsed dye laser.

The use of a V beam laser on a scar should only reduce the redness and not make it more indented.  Some scars need a variety of treatments to produce the best results.

I agree with your doctor, I think that seeing someone who specialises in all aspects of scarring will give you the very best results. Indented scars can be improved with fractional laser, subscision or filler. If there is redness, V Beam can certainly help.
