What is the best treatment for fordyce spot on lower lip? (photos)

About a year ago I went to a dermatologist for a fordyce spot removal on my lower lip and she used an electrocautery to zap it away. It left a scab and when the scab fell off it made it look a lot bigger and worse. Can someone please help how I can treat this without making it worst?

There are surgical and non-surgical approaches to lip augmentation. Non-surgical approaches include botox (slight lift, reducing gum show) and filler (volume restoration). Surgically, you can have two separate incisions under the nose (italian), one incision under the nose (bull horn), one incision at the red/white upper lip junction (gull wing) or two separate incision at the corners, or a combination, depending on your desired look and anatomy. My preferred surgical technique is called the Elelyft, which is a version of the bullhorn approach.

In your situation, I would consider a shave or an excision.

Thank you for sharing your question.  Unfortunately there is no cure or specific treatment for fordyce spots as they are benign.  I would leave the area alone as scarring can only continue to accentuate the spots.
