Hi there! I’m Lauren, the aesthetic injector here at Colorado Plastic Surgery Center. While many providers consider Botox to be low risk during breastfeeding, it is generally recommended to wait until you have finished breastfeeding before receiving Botox treatments.
I would not recommend getting Botox injections while breastfeeding. I do not offer Botox injections to my breastfeeding patients. It is unclear if Botox can spread to breast milk or harm a nursing infant. There are no clinical studies to either confirm or refute this assumption, but safety is always the priority. I would recommend that women postpone the procedure until after nursing.Krishna Vyas, MD, PhD, MHSHarvard and Mayo Clinic Trained Aesthetic and Plastic SurgeonNew York, New York
Hi @little.mermaid.xo! I do not recommend getting Botox while breastfeeding. There isn't much research on this topic so I recommend waiting until you are done breastfeeding.
I would not recommend getting Botox while breastfeeding, and do not offer it to my breastfeeding patients. There aren't really any good studies on the topic (it would be really hard to study this), so being conservative and cautious is the way to go.
Thank you for your question. In my opinion, it is not safe to undergo Botox injections while breastfeeding.
Hello @little.mermaid.xo thank you for your question. During lactation there is no problem to have botox applied, however for our patients we suggest not to breastfeed for 48 hours after the application. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS
Botox injections are not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Since it's still uncertain if Botox toxins can pass through breast milk to a nursing infant or affect unborn babies during pregnancy, most doctors advise against using Botox during while breastfeeding.
It is best if you wait until you have finished breastfeeding before having your Botox treatment. There are a lack of studies available proving it is safe to have Botox while pregnant or breastfeeding, so it is recommended to wait.
Thank you for your question. While the likelihood of absorption is low, there are no clinical studies to indicate that it is safe. Thus, the FDA warns against patients receiving botox while pregnant or breastfeeding. -Dr. P
Hi that is a great question! I do not recommend receiving botox injections while pregnant or breastfeeding due to the lack of research.
