I have my dental Braces on for the past year and thinking to get a Septoplasty with my braces on. Is it a good idea?

It is perfectly acceptable to undergo a septoplasty while orthodontic braces are in place. Just make sure to take  the rubber bands off  prior to the anesthesia.

Thanks for the question. Orthodontics generally work on the alveolar bone, which is the arch of bone that your teeth sit in. Some times people will have a palate expander placed to widen the palate and create more space for your teeth. Regular braces should have no effect on your septum, so you should be good to go. If you have a palate expander, I would wait until the palate expander is removed. An additional consideration could be your age. If your face and nose are still growing, you should probably delay corrective nasal surgery. The surgery itself wouldn't negatively affect your facial growth, but if your septum is fixed while your face and nose are still changing, you may end up needing a revision depending on how the additional growth proceeds.
