Nasal cycle unusually strong an indicator of turbinate dysfunction?

A comprehensive physical/nasal exam will determine the cause/s of problem and the ideal course of action.  Your breathing difficulty could be caused by abnormal enlargement of turbinates, deviated septum, or even both. A good rule of thumb is to find a surgeon with the right qualifications--ENT and/or board-certified plastic surgeon, performing nose surgery for many years, proper training, etc. Good luck and best wishes. 

It is normal to have a nasal cycle whereby the turbinates Intermittently relax and  expand  on the opposing side back-and-forth every few hours during the daytime. This is normal. Treatment for this would consist of antihistamines and nasal sprays. Once you have failed medical therapy, consideration for turbinate reduction surgery if the nasal obstruction is chronic and ongoing.
