CoolSculpting and EMS device: Is it safe to use the electrical muscle stimulation device right away?

Question

Tomorrow im getting my first coolsculpting treatment(belly), but i recently bought a EMS device(AbFlex). Is it safe to use the electrical muscle stimulation device right away after the coolsculpting treatment or do i have to wait. If i have to wait, how many weeks should i wait before using the EMS device. best regards.

I recommend following up with your practitioner about their protocol for after care and using these devices after Coolsculpting. Keep in mind, you will have swelling and it can take up to 6 months for final results. To speed up healing, you can try adding hyperbaric oxygen, lymphatic massage, venus legacy or exilis radiofrequency treatments.  For best results, a combination approach is needed. I recommend adding radiofrequency treatments like Vanquish for skin tightening and with Z wave/Cellutone for skin smoothing. However, a Vaser with ThermiRF procedure is the best combination for a toned result, but requires more downtime. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Although there are no published data to support any recommendations, there shouldn't be any reasons you couldn't use the device after CoolSculpting.  You can always bring in the device to your consultation to have your provider make a more informed recommendation. You may not want to even use the device for the first few days if you're experiencing discomfort already from the CoolSculpting procedure.

There haven't been any published medical studies looking at the efficacy or safety of EMS device use in conjunction with CoolSculpting, so there is no "right" answer to your question.  I recommend you bring your EMS device into your Dermatologist's office during your consultation so they can look at it and give you a personalized recommendation.

I don’t see a major contraindication to using this type of device but I would personally wait at least 4-5 days for the swelling to go down. It shouldn’t really cause any issues but make sure your physician doing cool sculpting knows and agrees.
