Answer: Bony bump dorsum of nose after rhinoplasty : Bony bump dorsum of nose after rhinoplasty: there are many possible causes for a residual dorsal bony hump after rhinoplasty. The most common is probably due to a slight rise of the nasal bones after rasping when they are in fractured. this may not be visible at the time of surgery due to the swelling. Another cause of a bony dorsal bump or irregularity could be the formation of callus which is the bones scar tissue. This forms over the raw edges of the bones which were filed down. In some cases there may be a piece of Cartilage from the upper lateral Cartilage or some debris that was missed. if Cortizone was injected to the lower 1/3 of the nose after surgery the shrinkage of that portion of the nose may create the appearance of a “bump“ above it. Whatever the cause, if it is bony, rasping it can be done, and can usually be done in the office under local anesthesia. good luck.
