Thanks for your question. The short answer is, it depends on how much work was done. If you had a ton of cartilage sculpting and a septoplasty, your nose will definitely always be extra susceptible to damage. A patient of mine who had a septoplasty was assaulted about a month following the surgery and he developed a septal hematoma. This is a blood collection on the inside of the nose that puts you at risk of having a perforation in the septum. We recognized it and drained it, but best to avoid it in the first place, right?Conversely, if all you have done is movement of your nasal bones with osteotomies, you need to avoid contact with your nose for about six weeks to allow the bones to heal.The best advise, of course, is don't put yourself in a position where your nose could get injured.
