Asking about diffusion of Botox to nearby structures

Question

as we know , with Botox there is a risk that the product spreads or diffuses to nearby structures. Spread to nearby muscles can lead to side effects such as appearance of droopy eyelids or asymmetric smile .  if the patient had after injecting botox a droopy eyelids or asymmetric smile , what time lasts this side effect ? 3- 4 months or 3-4 days ?

Thank you for sharing your question. If Botox migrates and causes a side effect, it usually resolves within six weeks. If the eyelid has dropped following BOTOX injections, eyedrops can be given to help elevate the lid.Good luck,

Thank you for your question.  The average duration of untoward Botox diffusion is 2-6 weeks.  This may vary from patient to patient depending upon factors such as: the development of antibodies, the patient's metabolism, the concentration of Botox, to name a few.  Occasionally, these untoward effects can be treated with injection of saline into the area.Best wishes in your endeavors!

Hi Lindascavo,When Botox diffuses to other areas, unintended immobilization happens. However, since the amount can't be estimated with any accuracy, neither can the duration of the effects. The more Botox diffuses, the more pronounced the effects. The range of Botox duration is between 2-6 months.
