Botox for TMJ - how long do I have to wait?

I had 10 units , total 20 units of botox 6 months ago for bruxism, in masseters. My face had longer jaw before the treatment. Now, 6 months later, muscles started building up but my face seems to appear shorter, jaw is not like before and it scares me. I know it takes a bit longer for masseters to build up but facial shortening? I am just blaming myself for doing this because now I look different. How long do I have to wait?

Botox injections for TMJ disorders and bruxism are usually administered every three to four months, depending on the severity of the condition and how fast your body metabolizes the Botox. However, it's important to note that everyone's body responds differently to Botox injections.

The facial changes you're noticing could be due to the Botox reducing the size of the masseter muscles, which can alter the appearance of your jawline and face shape. It's common for the masseters to start building up again once the effects of the Botox wear off, generally around the 3-4 month mark, but complete recovery time can vary.

If you're concerned about the changes in your facial appearance, I would recommend discussing these concerns with your healthcare provider. They can provide advice based on your specific situation and may be able to adjust your treatment plan accordingly.

I'm sorry you are having issues with your Botox treatment.  It may take some time as the Botox wears off for the muscles to rebuild back to your prior appearance.  You can consider other treatments such as fillers to help in the meantime.
