Should I get a laser peel before my facelift surgery? (photo)

Question

I’m very unhappy with the wrinkles I’m starting to develop and want a facelift. Surgery bookings are at least 2 months out. Could I get a laser peel now so that I’ll look a little better until I can get the facelift done? Or should I wait

It depends on the laser treatment that you are going to get. If it's a full field laser like an erbium or a CO2 then you want to wait until after the facelift to get that. The good news is that you don't look like you need an aggressive laser like those. A Halo laser, which is a hybrid fractionated laser, can improve the skin in a wonderful way without the downtime and hassles of the more aggressive lasers, and you can have a Halo prior to a facelift if you desire.

Great question and absolutely - the past president of the biggest group of plastic surgeons in the US has been public with his belief that all patients should do skin improvement before facial surgery so their skin is as healthy as possible and potentially there is even less pulling to do.

Think of lasers and your skin as like exercise. Regular BBL (BroadBandLight) and lasers stimulate your skin to make new collagen and be healthier, improving how it ages. Doing some improvement before your surgery will have you going into it with healthier skin, but regular treatments after your surgery will  keep it healthy, radiant and glowing.
