Dear patient, Any laser procedure can temporarily increase the redness associated with Rosacea. One component of Rosacea is enlarged blood vessels that expand very quickly. Recurrent flushing and redness can cause many problems including enlarged glands, cysts, pustules and more. I usually recommend that my patients who have a predisposition to Rosacea outbreaks go on topical or even oral medications a week before the laser treatment. I like topical agents such as Azelex, Cleocin T lotion, and Metrogel. Oral antibiotics such as Minocin and Doxycycline are also very helpful. Consider doing minimally ablative or non-ablative lasers that have a lower chance of Rosacea activation. I like Cooltouch CT3 laser and Clear and Brilliant Laser for patients with sensitive or Rosacea prone skin. I hope this was helpful.
Unfortunately, without the benefit of photographs or a formal evaluation, it's difficult to provide specific recommendations. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. For rosacea, I like a combination approach, using lasers (ProYellow, Pulsed Dye/Vbeam, Excel V), peels and botox to the cheeks. This makes dramatic changes in color and symptoms. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question.I would not recommend using Solarcaine, it will more than likely irritate the skin. My recommendation would be Aquaphor only and cold compresses.
