Miradry is FDA approved for the underarm and very select specialists are able to perform other areas on an off-label basis because of medical necessity. An examination is required. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
The miraDry® system eliminates the underarm sweat glands, and the sweat glands don’t grow back after treatment. This results in a dramatic and lasting reduction of embarrassing underarm sweat. In a clinical study, patients experienced an average of 82% reduction in underarm sweat. You should notice a reduction in sweat immediately after a single miraDry® treatment. As with any medical procedure, results will vary by person. 80% of our patients need only one treatment. Secondary effects include underarm hair and odor reduction. Right now it is only approved for underarm use. They are working on other areas of the body.
miraDry is a treatment that is FDA-approved for underarm use, any other areas of concern cannot be trated with the FDA-cleared miraDry treatment.
As of April, 2015 MiraDry can only be used to treat the axilla (underarms). We are actively working on modified and enhanced technology to allow us to treat other areas of the body such as the hands. Stay tuned!
The answer is yes, used off label. I have used it on the thighs, back, under the breast.I don't recommend the off label use for hands at this time. Read my miraDry book on the link below.
I only use this for the underarms, however I can see Dr Hratch POV, as he treats areas where there is little chance of nerve damage. It can not be used on the hands due to the possible side effects such as marked swelling but also nerve and tendon damage. Sweat Free Australia sticks to the ruling of underarm- axillary HH only.Dr Davin Lim Consultant dermatologistBrisbane, Australia
Miradry is very effective and in some patients a second or third treatment may be necessary. I have co-authored a book on the subject and feel that Miradry offers patients a very viable solution. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
Miradry is a non-invasive procedure that requires anesthesia. Lidocaine can cause the symptoms you described in some cases. I would consider speaking to your practitioner about the concerns and then choose an expert who can minimize recurrence. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
Swelling is normal after Miradry. I have co-authored a book on Miradry with Dr. Hratch Karamanoukian and have seen excellent results with many patients. I would take SwellX tablets twice daily and wait for the swelling to subside. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
