I had lipo 360 and bbl going on 3 months ago. Not seeing much of any change and contemplating going back under the knife. I'm trying to trust the process but I'm losing hope. Would I be considered a revision or a second round ? My results only look good in my faja not without clothes. I'm becoming depressed about it. Picture in pink undies is current post op..the other is pre surgery !
Answer: BBL revision Dear Dynamicgirl, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Considering round two BBL? You are in good company with many others who had high hopes for BBL but instead received disappointing results (lumpiness, unevenness, lack of projection in the central and/or lower buttock, post-deflation sagging, etc.) as most of the fat melts away. It is not quite as much the quality of the doctor nor liposuction technique but rather the quality of the procedure that is a large part of the problem. Thus, going back for round 2 BBL most often produces the same disappointing results but at another financial loss. Buttock implants indeed provide a more reliable, predictable, relatively safe, and permanent result, especially for adding projection to the buttock and often smoothing out lumpiness. Occasionally a lower buttock tuck may be advantageous for lower buttock fold asymmetries and/or sagging. Please keep in mind that an extremely few number of board-certified plastic surgeons specialize in buttock implants so be sure to consult with one that is reputable and experienced. Unfortunately you may have to travel long and far away from home to find this particular surgeon. Glad to help.

Answer: BBL outcome Thank you for including before and after pictures. Ideally we’d like to see proper before and after pictures like the ones taken by your plastic surgeon. If you don’t have those you should ask your surgeon to forward the ones they took. Your BBL looks like an above average outcome and actually looks quite impressive considering your candidacy for the procedure. You had significant skin laxity and cellulite both which make this procedure difficult and lessens your candidacy for a great outcome. If you want to change the outcome you need to state specifically what change you’re trying to achieve. To me the outcome looks quite good. Individuals who have moderate skin laxity should make sure that skin laxity is not causing their discontent instead of blaming the outcome on issues related to fat distribution. to make an assessment on the impact that skin laxity has tried pulling up on the skin above your areas of concern and see if that changes to come to work for the better. If it does then that tells you exactly how much impact skin laxity has on body contour. A BBL only removes and adds fat and there’s not address cellulite or skin laxity. Often there are more variables than simply fat distribution and this is what differentiates patients into excellent candidates, good candidates, average candidates, less than ideal candidates and poor candidates. A poor candidate is never gonna have a great outcome regardless of the competence of the plastic surgeon. An excellent candidate can end up with a poor outcome in the hands of an unskilled provider. Plastic surgery outcomes are always a combination of the patient’s primary candidacy combine with the skill and experience of the provider. Follow up with your provider and discuss your concerns with him or her. If you want a proper second opinion consultation I suggest scheduling those as in person consultations with other local board-certified plastic surgeons. For a second opinion consultations patients should come prepared with proper before and after pictures and a copy of your operative report. These are all available from your previous surgeons office if you request them. Finally while results are more or less final at three months it takes time for patients to get accustomed to their new bodies. The BBL procedure is unique in that it has an excessive number of over exaggerated pictures being perpetuated on the Internet. some of these, from plastic surgeons, many come from patients and some come from others who are simply manipulating images to gain notoriety. Fat transfer is probably the easiest procedure to show exaggerated results by simply taking pictures early after the procedure when results look overly dramatic. Final results do not look anything close to what the results look like a week after the procedure or immediately after surgery. I would encourage you to avoid the temptation of believing that more is better when it comes to fat transfer and the BBL procedure. Excessively over exaggerated women’s bodies are being reversed on a daily basis by people who regret asking for an aggressive BBL or having second BBL procedures like a poorly chosen tattoo. Good luck with your decision making and hopefully you will learn to appreciate your outcome. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
